Malawi, officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in southeast Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It is bordered by Zambia to the northwest, Tanzania to the northeast, and Mozambique on the east, south and west. The country is separated from Tanzania and Mozambique by Lake Malawi. Malawi's estimated population is 16,777,547. The capital is Lilongwe, which is also Malawi's largest city. The name Malawi comes from the Maravi, an old name of the Nyanja people that inhabit the area. The country is also nicknamed "The Warm Heart of Africa".
Children living at Good Samaritan Children's Home are 0-15 years old. This process will take up to a year or longer. An investigation starts once an adoptable child is identified at the home.
Please request a Malawi Packet and refer to the Malawi Program Fee page for breakdown.
Thandie Chikufengi - Orphanage Director
Thandie accepted the position as director of the orphanage in 2003. This is her life's work. The facility was opened to care for around 50 older orphans and is now caring for 125 older orphans. The need has grown so much that the home is now taking in younger children. They are in the process of constructing a building just for infants and toddlers. Good Samaritan's Children's Home is a mission arm of Good Samaritan Baptist Ministries. Thandie works tirelessly to care for these children. Please continue to pray for the home, the staff, and this ministry.
