Home Study

(Required for adoption, domestic and for any country.)

Upon approval PKAF will match the prospective adoptive parent(s) with a social worker that will contact the applicant(s) within 2 weeks of application submission.
The Home Study process can take anywhere from 2-3 months, but is generally based on how available you are to meet with us and how quickly you provide your documentation to us.

The Home Study process consists of four face to face visits. One visit must be completed in the home and the rest will be determined by applicant(s) and their social worker. All family members living in the home are required to be at the first and last visits of the home study process. The visits will evaluate the individuals’ capability to parent an adoptive child and is required in order to meet all requirements by agency, state, placing country, immigration, and Hague requirements.  Applicants will be required to have 12 parent education hours.

(Please contact the office before applying with another agency to do your home study.  PKAF will need to approve all home study providers and obtain the needed paperwork.)

Children for placement are male and female and range from birth to 15 years old. These children will have been living in Noah's Ark Children's Home and will have been cared for by house moms. All of these children are considered orphans and are either abandoned or parent/s have relinquished rights

Malawi Adoption Program

A child from Malawi will be fully adopted in country.  (PKAF strongly recommends that you re-adopt once you return home.  Please consult an adoption attorney for the cost of this process.)

Children for placement are male and female and range from birth to 15 years old.  Children with special needs are also available.  These children will be matched by the Central Authority in Malawi, under the Minister of Gender's office.

Relative Adoption Program

This program pertains to families that are wanting to return to a country to adopt their adoptee's sibling or to native families here in the U.S. that would like to adopt a family member. (One of the Prospective Adoptive Parents must be a U.S. citizen.)  Please contact the office so that we can speak with you in detail.

(Post-adoption)

A social worker will meet with the entire family in your home. They must see the adopted child/children and assess how that child is adapting to their new environment. Your placing country or placing agency may require more and our social workers will provide what is requested.
